Lokanta Maya

Lokanta Maya and Yeni Lokanta compete for the crown of best Istanbul ambiance and best New Turkish food.The Lokanta Maya dining room is pretty - furnished with modern Scandinavian furniture and will remind you of Noma. The menu is Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine with a twist and good presentation. In most other Turkish restaurants the mezes steal the show and we ordered almost all appetizers on the menu. Ox liver, marinated sea bass and legume salad with pomegranate were our favorites. But the main courses were really the stars! All three main courses were superb (we tried sea bass, duck and lamb) but the lamb with bulghur and rice (with a tinge of cinnamon) was outstanding.The wine list was somewhat disappointing - especially when it comes to whites - featuring only the mainstay Turkish wines from Doluca and Kavaklidere that you find in any corner store.

Very good little restaurant in Istanbul. Great to see some alternatives to all the traditional kitchens in Sultanahmet. It was definitely a modern foodie menu but with subtle hints of traditional cooking (think egg plant, red peppers and yoghurt). It's a little bit more expensive then a lot of Istanbul ($95 for two people with a cocktail and glass of wine, no starter but a desert each) but is definitely worth a visit.

Nice atmosphere and lovely staff but the food and cocktails were disappointing. The starters - especially the famous courgette fritters - were nice but the mains were nothing special (also no veggie option available).

This place is a must try!!!Unfortunately it can be a bit difficult to get a table, as it's always booked. When I went it was all booked, but I talked the manager into taking my number and calling me in case anyone cancels, and luckily someone did cancel and we got their table! The wine is really good and everything on the menu is delicious. I recommend ordering a lot small dishes and sharing to get to try as many things as possible. Oh, and did I mention that the staff are super friendly! I will definitely return!

Maya usulü kokoreçe bayıldım. Başlangıçlar da bir o kadar lezzetliydi. Şarap menüleri de baya düzgün.

Ufak ama oldukça başarılı bir mekan. Mevsiminde, günlük malzemelerle hazırlanan harika lezzetlerin adresi. Didem Şenol'un yaratıcı mutfağı güzel bir fine dining deneyimi sunuyor.Maya geçtiğimiz sene kapansa da, Didem Şenol'un diğer mekanı Gram şehrin farklı noktalarında benzer kalite ve özellikte ürünleri sunmaya devam ediyor...

Lokanta Maya, otantik lezzetleriyle beni etkiledi. Yemeklerin taze ve lezzetli olduğunu söylemeliyim. Ancak, hizmet biraz yavaştı ve restoranın kalabalık olduğu zamanlarda bekleme süreleri uzayabiliyor.
