Failed to become an international community.

The reason I didn’t rate 1 ⭐️ is because my kids like it (they have been attending MEF for 2 years now) and also because most teachers are good. The reasons I gave it such low rating are as follows:- MEF is located in the middle of nowhere. The school buses don’t have proper air conditioning and the trips take on average 1 hour due to the distance as well as traffic. For this reason I drive my kids myself 35km each way.- MEF’s facilities are very simple and lack resources, it feels like a public Turkish school with international kids in it- teachers don’t give homework with a few exceptions- food served is not good tasting according to most students- discipline is not taken seriously; suspension rarely happens and when it does happen the child is sent to the school’s library for the day and that’s it- the pool temperature is set to be between 25 and 28c when I mentioned it should be 30c for little swimmers they said it was not possible as this temperature allows for bacterial growth (even though 30c is recommended by the American Swimming website)-not every classroom has a/c even though temperatures in Izmir easily rise above 40c- the primary restroom didn’t have toilet paper for 1 month, the problem was only solved after my 3rd complaint- the books provided by MEF are used and returned every year but they are not free?- at the end of every year the librarian tries to charge USD10 for some “overdue” book that had been returned a long time before.I hope this is helpful to families considering moving to Izmir, as MEF is the only international school around.

Beware if someone by the name of Mark Ford and his travel partner Ferhat Kamuran contact you advising that you have been successful in obtaining employment at the school. It is a scam and they are both frauds. I contacted the school directly after being offered the position and they had no idea what I was talking about. Be on guard against these two scums and whoever else they work with.

Do not apply to any jobs to this school. It is a scam. The school does not exist and email addresses under markford and ferhat kamuran simply want money for visas and air tickets". ALL A FAKE. SHAME ON WHOEVER IS BEHIND THIS."
