Mama Montessori
Eğitimden ziyade pazarlama ve algı yönetimine odaklanmış bir kurumdur (daha doğrusu dükkandır). Sahibi bir akademisyen olduğunu her ortamda vurgular ancak vergi ödememek için ilk günden itibaren faturasız kayıt yaptırılması için velileri teşvik eder. İsminde Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı tarafından yabancı isim kullanımı yasak olmasına rağmen “Montessori” ifadesi geçer ancak bu konuda kurumun hiçbir sertifikasyonu yoktur sadece bir öğretmeni bu konuda bir eğitim programına katılmıştır. Kurumun fiziksel imkanları son derece kısıtlı olduğundan okuyan çocuklar ne yazık ki alerjik hastalıklara yakalanır. Öğretim görevlilerinin çoğunun İngilizcesi orta seviyededir. Bu Google Yorumlarında bile önceki yorumlar kurum sahibi ve çalışanları tarafından yazılmıştır. Farklı olduğu iddiasında olan vasat bir okuldur…

Management and communication with parents are way below expectations for an “international” pre-school (kid enrolled in 2020 and 2021).Although advertised as an international, Montessori and English speaking school, we have been highly frustrated by the absence of client-oriented behavior and policy - as well as with the English proficiency of most teachers. While the teachers are generally committed, the school suffered from the complete absence of English native speaker.From a management standpoint, while acknowledging the challenges faced by all parties during the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, we suffered from an oppressive top-down management which was solely concerned by the school itself rather than the kids and parents (illustrated by repeated highly disruptive and impulsive decisions to close school overnight in absence of official request).Empathy towards parents was rarely shown by the school management and often, we felt not listened to while simply sharing the difficulties the understandable pandemic-related situation was putting the whole community into. On the contrary, we were asked to “make some sacrifices as the school did already a lot”! We were at times also accused of putting at risk teachers’ lives while asking for better communication and planning in the context of lockdown. We faced very patronizing and aggressive communication every time we tried to find solutions that would consider the school staff health situation as well as the kids’ and the parents’. The management revealed on several occasions as manipulative and self-centered, regularly recalling that unhappy parents were free to look for alternative kindergarten.Moreover, the school did not appreciate the creation of a WhatsApp group from parents to share information as very little, if not no information at all, was shared with parents who could not understand Turkish and therefore, follow the epidemiological situation in the country (note that the group did not exist before and was perceived as a pressure group against the school instead of a support initiative).Finally, our daughter started to develop some aggressive behavior and replicated some practices from the school similar to aggressive punishment. These changes in behavior were also witnessed by other parents and brought many of us to change school.To conclude, the intention of this review is not to harm the teachers, the school or the pedagogical project to diffuse Montessori education in Turkey, which is laudable. Rather, it aims to alert parents about the major managerial issues they may face by enrolling their kids in the school, and possibly make the management change its approach and become sensitive to kids’ and parents’ needs while we entrust Mama Montessori to spend most of the day-time with our precious children, at such a critical schooling age.

Mama Montessori 3 yıl boyunca oğlumuza hem montessorı eğitimini hem de ingilizce eğitimini çok başarılı bir şekilde sağladı. Özenle kurulmuş ve titizlikle idare edilen bir anaokuludur. Okul müdüründen öğretmenlere hatta çalışan personele kadar herkes çok iligili ve çocuklara karşı duyarlı davranmaktadır. Her daim göstermiş oldukları güler yüz, özveri ve tüm emekleri için çok teşekkür ederiz.
